LAHORE: The Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court (SC) has suspended the contempt of court hearing of the Lahore High Court (LHC) for not making the Judicial Allowance a part of the pension. The SC directed that no order be issued till the next hearing. The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court had hinted at contempt of court proceedings against the Punjab Chief Minister. According to details, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Qasim Khan had hinted on Friday that if the Judicial Allowance was not made a part of the pension by tomorrow evening, then I would summon the Chief Minister, at the same time show cause notices would be issued. I will decide on the crime on Sunday.
The Punjab government approached the
Supreme Court against the contempt of court hearing in the Lahore High Court.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan of the Supreme Court heard
the case at the request of the Punjab government.
The Supreme Court suspended the hearing of
the Lahore High Court and directed that the Lahore High Court should not issue
any order till the next hearing. The apex court has also sought a record from
the registrar of the Lahore High Court for July 6.
